Sourced from the Florida Wildflower Growers Co-op. Now considered non-native.

Description: Blooms profusely. Wonderfully variable in both colors and patterns. Flowers rise above hairy, grayish green leafy stems. Somewhat attractive to butterflies. Drought tolerant once established.

Lifespan: Short-lived perennial; occasionally annual

Light exposure: Full sun to high pine shade

Bloom color: Yellow and red (relative amounts can vary substantially); red; yellow; rose; white is very rare

Bloom season: Mid-spring to mid-fall

Height (in bloom): 1–2 ft

Habitat: Dry sandy open areas (coastal; disturbed)
